NotesThe Transcription Group is working on the handwritten ledger from the end of the 18th Century onwards  The writing is very difficult to decipher, and we had hardly begun when the Covid-19 virus prevented us from meeting to discuss early teething problems.  Nevertheless, members have persevered and made good progress on the pages, which are copied by the Museum and sent to the group electronically.  At the moment we only have names & addresses of the recipients, the amounts they received, and occasionally some other bits of information, but as we get into the 1810s we understand that more information will be recorded, which will put more meat on the bones.  As with our other projects, all the spreadsheets will be collated onto a master database on the Museum's website which can then be searched by members of the public.
